Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: smbldap-tools

Hi,

running /usr/share/doc/smbldap-tools/configure.pl to configure smbldap-
tools (0.9.4-1) on Ubuntu 8.10 Server, I got the following three Perl
warnings about uninitialized variables being used (followed by some
normal output to help locating the respective lines in a potentially
more recent revision of the file):

Use of uninitialized value $server in substitution (s///) at /usr/share/doc/smbldap-tools/configure.pl line 244, <STDIN> line 17.
. ldap master server:

Use of uninitialized value $server in string at /usr/share/doc/smbldap-tools/configure.pl line 262, <STDIN> line 21.
  ldap slave server

Use of uninitialized value $# in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/share/doc/smbldap-tools/configure.pl line 314, <STDIN> line 33.
backup old configuration files

I didn't check the reasons in detail, by most likely there are some
conditions when these variables are initialized and others when they're
not. Could you please check and fix this?

Thanks and best regards
Heiko
