Petr, no your setup is different from Lhorz so you're likely seeing an
unrelated problem. Please file a new bug report (via `ubuntu-bug -p
xserver-xorg-video-intel`). Include the files you attached above and
also `xrandr --verbose`.

Returning to Incomplete awaiting Lhorz's confirmation.

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
       Status: Incomplete => New

** Summary changed:

- intrepid ibex: xorg incorrectly detects screen resolution
+ incorrectly detects screen resolution for DellFP1707

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xorg

Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid ibex is installed on a dell optiplex 270 using only
onboard graphics. Screen is a 17" dell flat panel monitor model FP1707.
The os was originally installed while intrepid was in the alpha stage.
It has been steadily upgraded through the other stages of alpha, beta
and is now at the release candidate level.

Fire up 'Monitor Resolution Settings' from
System -> Preferences -> Screen Resolution
  Available screen resolutions displayed are
  1360 x 768
  1152 x 864
  1024 x 768 **
  800 x 600
  640 x 480

1024 x 768 is detected as the optimal setting and is used by default.

- Several problems with this. The montior's optimal setting is 1280 x 1024. Selection of 1360 x 768 is not well suported by the monitor and makes desktop practically unusable. so:
+ Several problems with this. The montior's optimal setting is 1280 x 1024. Selection of 1360 x 768 is not well supported by the monitor and makes desktop practically unusable. so:
  1) possible resolutions that monitor can display are not detected
  2) optimal resolution is not correctly detected
  3) sub-optimal resolution detected and made available
