** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I have a Dell Inspiron 1100 with Kubuntu 8.10 here, the chipset is a
82845G/GL. The problem is, that X works, but the quality of the output
is quite low: Every colour gradient is stepped as it was in 256-colour
mode or like in a low-quality jpeg-image. Attaching a "screenshot"
showing the login screen on Kubuntu. Note the "rings" starting from the
top middle of the screen, this should be a smooth gradient. On MS
Windows, the same pictures are displayed correctly.

This also happens with the live-CD of Fedora 10 Preview.

  Using xerver-org-video-intel 2.4.1-1ubuntu10.
