** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: googleearth-package

Ever since I got my new computer back in July, I've been having a
problem with Google Earth's display being... incorrect. I'm filing this
here and not with Google because I think this is actually a problem in
Xorg or somewhere else and not with Google Earth, since my old computer
running the same version of Google Earth does not have this problem.

  I have a Toshiba P200-ST2061 with an Intel GM965 chipset and X3100
graphics. I'm running off the Hardy repos right now, though the problem
  existed under Gutsy as well.

Basically, with Windows on this machine, Google Earth is completely
smooth and the overlays function perfectly. Under Linux, the movement
itself is somewhat choppy (not a major concern of mine, but see my note
on it at the bottom) and the image and road overlays appear broken.
Here are a pair of images to demonstrate my problem:

This first one was taken on my old computer, and shows correctly. This is how the map shows under Windows as well as under other computers I've tried.

And this is what I see on my machine.

Though those images don't show it, when zoomed out more, some roads also
  take that broken appearance.

Glxgears runs fine and glxinfo reports that direct rendering is
functional, so I'm not sure why it's acting as it is. I'm going to
attach glxinfo just in case it helps.

Being that the motion is somewhat choppy, I wonder if that's also why
OpenGL-based game Sauerbraten runs in a choppy manner at higher
resolutions. I keep it at 1280x800 to run it semi-smoothly, above that
it jerks around much as Google Earth seems to.
