Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: network-manager-vpnc
System info:
Ubuntu: 8.10
network-manager-vpnc: 0.7~~svn20081015t024626-0ubuntu1
Steps to reproduce:
- Click nm-applet, choose VPN connections, configure VPN.
(The Network connections Dialog box opens, with the VPN tab selected)
- Add a VPN connection off type vpnc.
- Add Gateway, Groupname and Group Password. Do not enter a Username Passord.
- Click OK. Close Network Connections Dialog Box
What happens: The Group Password is not saved together with the rest of the connection information.
What I expected: Group Password is stored.
- Click nm-applet, chose VPN connections, select VPN connection you just
configured.
What happens: A dialog box comes up asking for User and Group Passwords.
What I expected: A dialog box comes up asking for User Password.
Notes:
- When I do enter a password in the VPN config dialog it is saved, together with the group password. The VPN connection is then correctly established, but this is not useable for me (see next note).
- The reason I want to store a group password but not a user password is that our user password is read from an RSA token (and thus changes every minute), but our group password is fixed (but to long and complex to memorize). It is therefore necessary for me to store the group password, but have network manager prompt for the user password.
** Affects: network-manager-vpnc (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
