These are the files used in my university's Fedora 7 image:
/usr/share/applications/fedora-ddd.desktop
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/ddd.png

I've attached them in this comment.
Note that the image file used isn't 48x48 pixels but rather 54x48 (!) pixels, and I think that the specification of the desktop entry file is different. If the packagers could pick on the application's default icon (see Gabriel's input)... it would be nice.
