Little bit of an update.
The intel driver was updated, and the issue on boot is almost better. Sometimes the wrong monitor displays at the login, then after login in neither display turns on. I then restart x, and that fixes it.

The issue on resume has gotten worse. The system does not appear to
resume at all. I get a blank screen with a flashing underscore. X never
starts, and I don't have a prompt where I can start x. control alt
backspace does not do anything.
