FYI, there is a debian bug to update elisa,  debian bug #533121,  this
is the maintainers response:

"An even more recent version of Elisa (0.5.37) is currently available
from experimental.  Also, the reincarnated/renamed version of Elisa
called Moovida is being uploaded to experimental.  Moovida is not
completely there yet, but I'm working on that.

I will not let the newest version of Elisa or Moovida move into
Sid/unstable before I've dealt with the issues concerning the new update
system that is present in Elisa/Moovida since 0.5."

So maybe a new version will be released in time for karmic.
