If anyone else has this problem it can be fixed:
<yofel> c_korn: found it
<yofel> c_korn: open up ccsm
<yofel> c_korn: general-options -> General
<yofel> c_korn: disable "Undirect Fullscreen Windows" and the flickering is gone
