[Bug 398389] [NEW] avant-window-navigator makes desktop freeze on start

Public bug reported:

Starting makes my desktop completely freeze, tested in both xfce4 and gnome.
Switching to tty1 returns this error message:
(awn:7631): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_region destroy: assertion 'region != NULL' failed

I am running nvidia-173 and compiz, Ubuntu karmic koala 9.10
