Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope

VMWare Workstation 6.5.2 build-156735

Gnome 2.26.1

VMWare is set in Edit | Preferences to "Run powered on virtual machines
in background after close".

However, upon logging out of Gnome, the vmware processes are killed and
the virtual machines are thereby terminated without further notice.

What should happen is that the virtual machines are continued in the
background. Or, at the very least, suspended.

This would be quite easy to implement if there was a way to catch the
"logout" process in Gnome with a script that does the above.

However, there does not seem to be such a concept in Gnome.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04

ProcEnviron:

 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: firefox-3.0
Uname: Linux 2.6.28-13-generic x86_64

** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
