[Bug 400213] [NEW] kexec in 9.04 fails to bring up interfaces

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kexec-tools

When I load a kernel with kexec, my network interfaces are not
detected... at all. If I remove /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net and
reboot with kexec, nothing is added to the file. If I perform a normal
reboot, everything works out fine.

I installed the linux kernel 2.6.30.1 and if I kexec FROM 2.6.30.1,
everything works fine. If I kexec from the 9.04s kernel 2.6.28.9 INTO
2.6.30.1, it still doesn't work. So the problem must have something to
do with the shutdown code or how kexec exits the current kernel.

** Affects: kexec-tools (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
