Public bug reported:

Processing triggers for libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mercurial
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:
Setting up mercurial (1.1.2-2ubuntu1) ...
Package python2.6 is trying to overwrite hgext/inotify/common.py which is already provided by mercurial-common
dpkg: error processing mercurial (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mercurial

This is on a jaunty upgraded sparc box (Linux MYBOX 2.6.25-2-sparc64 #1
Tue Sep 30 14:55:44 UTC 2008 sparc64 GNU/Linux).

I'm actually not 100% the jaunty upgrade took (the box works) since this
cropped up during the upgrade. I uninstalled mercurial for the install
and thought it proceeded fine (but that uname output leads me to think
otherwise), but after re-installing mercurial I'm back to getting this
error.

** Affects: mercurial (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
