** Description changed:
Binary package hint: asterisk
Currently we are shipping Asterisk 1.4, whilst this version is still
actively maintained (particularly for security updates), we should look
to upgrade to 1.6. This new version scheme was first released just over
a year ago and it brings some really good new features, and particularly
efficiency.
- 1.6.2.0~rc1 is the highest upstream version number overall. It wouldn't
- be unreasonable to expect final to be released shortly.
-
- The current upstream final is 1.6.1.1.
+ 1.6.2.0~beta3 is the highest upstream version number overall. It
+ wouldn't be unreasonable to expect final to be released before freeze.
+ The current upstream final is 1.6.1.1, so that is another possibility.
Karmic is an excellent time to introduce Asterisk 1.6, as 10.04 will be
the next LTS which gives us a whole release cycle to ensure best
practice through karmic release.
