Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: okular

I'm using PPC port of Ubuntu 9.04. Kernel: 2.6.28-6-powerpc, X.Org X
Server 1.6.0 (2009-2-25), radeon driver (ATI Technologies Inc RV280
[Radeon 9200]), .

The problem is that okular (0.8.2, kde 4.2.2) shows distortions in displayed files and also in its whole window, please see the attached screenshot.
Steps to reproduce this are:
1) Start okular for viewing a pdf (could also be dvi, no difference)
2) Scroll around in the document
3) Parts of the document get overlayed by "noisy blocks", ie random distortions. The document becomes partly unreadable. Scrolling around makes randomly some parts (blocks) readable and others unreadable.

The same happens to the UI of okular if switching to another application
(using <Alt>+<Tab>) and switch back to okular. In that case for example
the upper control elements ("previouse", "next",...) become invisible
and overlayed by random noisy or colored blocks. Moving the cursor over
the distorted parts, make some of them visible again (looks like the UI
gets redrawn at that moment).

The same effects hold for Kile (its editor component and its UI
controls). It makes both applications unusable for me.

None of these effects happens to gnome/gtk applications.

Please let me know if you need any more informations.

** Affects: okular (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
