Public bug reported:

Since upgrade to Ubuntu Studio 9.04 x64 (clean install) Synaptic, add/remove programs, and apt-get has crashed (full computer freeze) every time in gnome prior to nvidia driver install and has forced me to upgrade/install ALL of my packages in failsafe terminal session.
After successful initial upgrade and also after the nvidia driver was installed, package managers would sometimes work, still forcing me to mostly use the failsafe terminal for most package installs. This crash happened while attempting to install package "sun-java6-source" from failsafe terminal. The package "sun-java6-doc" errored, but didn't crash the system.

Other crashes occured during "flashplugin-installer" and various other
packages. Crashes aren't limited to, but do always occur if firefox is
running.
