Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome
After a fresh installation of Ubuntu, I alway immediately change the
login screen from the default to the "human list browser" (to mimic
Windows and because my users don't know their username mostly). However,
when I then restart it's picks a random login screen. If I select it
correctly then, it's fixed.
Steps to reproduce:
- Install jaunty on a PC or laptop (= start live CD, install, reboot without CD). Optional: use nl_BE.
- Notice that the login screen is human
- Open System/Administrator/Loginscreen
- Open tab local.
- Notice that "thema" is set to "selection alone"
- select radiobutton "human list"
- click button close
- reboot
- Notice that the login screen is random now. (I ussually get a gnome blue or something). By luck you could get "human list".
- Open System/Administrator/Loginscreen
- Open tab local.
- Notice that "thema" is set to "random from selection" => BUG because we didn't input that.
I've seen this bug occur on Jaunty (9.04), Ibex and Hardy ever time I
install a I PC. It gives a bad first impression.
** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
