Hi,

metacity or compiz don't make any difference 
but

creating a new account and starting a video with option "integrated
video in interface" activated in vlc makes no problems, everything just
works fine.

Mayby there is some personally configuration vlc saves, that causes the
problem?

But unfortunately  that's too deep into ubuntu for me...
