[Bug 385406] [NEW] No sound in battle tanks (atanks)

I am on ubuntu karmic 32-bit with ac 97 audio and alsa 1.0.20 (hardware: lg
s1 laptop). There are no sound problems. When running atanks version 3.6-1 the game runs with no sound, with the
output:

install_sound: ALSA: snd_pcm_hw_params_set_format(pcm_handle, hwparams,
format) : Invalid argument

This problem has been introduced during the last year in one of the new atanks
versions. Before that, on hardy heron, I had sound. 
This happens also if I use 'aoss atanks'.
