I am able to start firefox-3.5 like this:

/usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.1b4pre/run-mozilla.sh
/usr/lib/firefox-3.5b4pre/firefox-3.5

(thanks to manuelb on ubuntuforums):

but trying to run the binary alone still segfaults.
