I have sent an email to the debian mantainer to see if there are plans
to include this in experimental or something like that.

In any case it would be worthwhile to help him with the update into
debian so we can sync it into Ubuntu instead of importing the update
ourselves.

The closest to upstream we work, the better for the whole free software
ecosystem.
