Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: checkgmail

checkgmail does not appear to work with proxy servers that require
authentication.

using settings like the example below works for apt-get, etc, however
checkgmail assumes that the first colon it comes across is the end of
the proxy hostname.

http_proxy=http://<domainname>\<username>:<password>@<proxy>:<port>
https_proxy=http://<domainname>\<username>:<password>@<proxy>:<port>

** Affects: checkgmail (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
