I am using Ubuntu 9.04 on a Dell Dimension 4700 Desktop. I can reproduce
the problem. Here's the output of the debug:

SoundConverter 1.4.1
  using Gstreamer version: 0.10.22, Python binding version: 0.10.14
  using gio
  using 2 thread(s)

error: Could not open resource for reading. (Dont_Download_This_Song.mp3)

I noticed that it doesn't have the necessary permission. However, I am
able to run it using sudo or gksu. Of course, the file produced would be
owned by root.
