I've retried the ebox install from a newly jaunty install (server 32 bits) and it worked flawlessly.
During the install i did not select any services to install (just click continue), then sudo apt-get install ebox.

Maybe there was an issue with the jaunty alpha even though it was up to
date (apt-get update / upgrade) on my headless server.
