Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: conduit

Ubuntu Release: 9.04 X86_64
Conduit version: 0.3.15-1ubuntu3

When I start conduit it seems to load fine with no errors on the
console. However when I try to drag a provider onto the canvas nothing
seems to happen in the UI and I get the following message on the
console:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/conduit/gtkui/UI.py", line 513, in drag_data_received_data
    int(scroll) + y
  File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/conduit/gtkui/Canvas.py", line 681, in add_dataprovider_to_canvas
    cond = Conduit.Conduit(self.sync_manager)

    self.uid = Utils.uuid_string()
  File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/conduit/utils/__init__.py", line 247, in uuid_string
    return uuid.uuid4().hex
AttributeError: 'str' object has no attribute 'hex

This problem does not occur on my 32-bit machine.

** Affects: conduit (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
