[Bug 473804] [NEW] Using CTRL-E (Expunge) in Inbox deletes all mail

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution-mapi

Evolution 2.28.1 (Ubuntu 9.10)

I entered CTRL-E (Expunge) by accident in my Exchange Inbox folder: I
had 3 years' worth of interesting email there. I had just one message
selected.

Evolution preceded to delete every single email in my Inbox on the
server, without any warning. These emails are completely gone
(examining my account with both Outlook and the web-based client
confirms it), not moved to the Deleted folder or anything. They're
gone. The only possibility of recovery is to go to a backup of the
Exchange server.

Apparently, this bug was reported over seven months ago to Gnome:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=573736 but nothing has been
done.

Personally given the likelihood of massive data loss, I think Ubuntu
should withdraw this package from the repository until this bug is fixed
(and given this it's probably prudent to examine the other bugs to be
sure there aren't more like this one).

** Affects: evolution-mapi (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
