Before you go to the trouble of installing 9.04, perhaps you could try
the experiment of uninstalling Hp ProtectTools and then clean installing
9.10. If it works, I'm sure the owner of laptop won't miss any of the
ProtectTools functions (unless their computer is a corporate laptop).
If it doesn't work, you can easily reinstall ProtectTools:
