same problem in ubuntu 9.10 karmic

  Binary package hint: wx2.8-examples
  
  When installing wx2.8-examples, it does not uncompress the files in
  /usr/share/doc/wx2.8-examples/examples.
  
  This make the wxPython demo unusable:
  
  [10:06] src $python /usr/share/doc/wx2.8-examples/examples/wxPython/demo.py 
  Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/share/doc/wx2.8-examples/examples/wxPython/demo.py", line 3, in <module>
      import Main
  ImportError: No module named Main
  
  After unpacking all the .gz files everything works OK.
  
  There is a script called unpack_examples.sh in
  /usr/share/doc/wx2.8-examples/examples, maybe the post installer should
  call it.
