I have the same problem and get the same for the commands "sudo modprobe gspca" and "sudo modprobe -l | grep gsp".
I using an Acer Orbicam and am not able to intall the gspcav1-20071224 driver, although it semms to be the right one for this hardware. Skype displays a very funny webcam stream with wrong colours. 

Installing updates didn't help so far.
