I have the same behavior with Dolphin in Kubuntu Karmic 9.10 amd64.

Even when I set my user/password in System Settings/Sharing/Windows
shares and supply it to Dolphin when connecting to the share, Dolphin
will ask for my credentials again.

However, this is not always so, there are moments I can browse through
several folders without being asked to supply my credentials. But sooner
or later it will start asking these over and over again....
