I have the same problem and try try all suggestions I can.
In my mesg I see this recommendation I don' t get how to do it
How do I use the insmod option for specifying a card?

I also get

[   15.021392] bttv: Unknown parameter `alsa'
[   15.047391] bttv: Unknown parameter `alsa'

Perhaps I have uninstalled alsa. Can my Karmic live only with
pulseaudio, anyway (no alsa)?
