Please try with the 2.1.10 packages available here: https://launchpad.net/~kgoetz/+archive/ppa
I'm running 2.1.10 and I'm unable to reproduce this problem.

single Click mouse 1 == nothing
alt click+hold mouse 1 == terrain info
ctrl click mouse 1 == nothing
single click mouse 2 == move primary view on map(s)
alt click+hold mouse 3 (scrollwheel) = terrain info

Its worth noting i have alt+mouse unmapped from its gnome default.
