ok I installed jaunty release amd64 desktop to the drive . It did
install grub (legacy) to the mbr of sdb but when trying to boot from
that drive I get "GRUB loading stage1.5ReadError" . I also got a similar
message with some attempts to install grub2 "GRUB loadingReadError"
(note no stage1.5) . Is it possible this is because the way the kernal
sees my drives is not the way the bios sees the drives ? When I tell the
partitioner where to put grub I am getting the identity from where I
installed to (ex: sdb ) , also I notice that when you select advanced in
the last step of the partitioner to select where to put grub the default
is hd0 but using the drop down all drives are designated with sd(letter)
