Thank you for responding!
I am a bit lost in any case. I assume that "the most recent version of this package" for Ubuntu refers to Firefox 3.5...?
I would greatly appreciate it if you pointed me to the procedure that I must do in order to upgrade. I have already looked at the Firefox page and attempted an upgrade of 3.5.3. This has not worked.
I have also tried going to the terminal to do: sudo apt - get update
This starts and gets hung up 62% and produces: "hit" and "Ign" for various updates. Then terminates thus:
"...-computer:~$ sudo apt-get update

W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems"...
Additionally I have tried the update manager and achieved equal results. No new upgrades. This after a purge of both Ibex 8.10 and Jackalope 9.4 which were partitioned - Jackalope had stopped functioning. I installed Hardy Heron 8.4 from a live disk that I made a few days ago.
When I did the installation of Hardy, I was prompted in the set up about
my keyboard which is a standard European for Spain. I am noticing that
upgrades in translation are not taking... Is this part of the problem?
My screen resolution problem persists at 800x600 and not the original
option that did work until there was an update in August? This however
is minor and can be looked at later. I had hoped that by switching to
Hardy that the screen resolution option of 1200x800 would be offered
anew. The graphic card that I have is admittedly minimal and I assume
from the prior millennium...
I am hugely grateful for any guidance on these problems. Please advise
if this is not the correct place to be posting this and I will re-post
in the appropriate forum.
