Lightning does NOT come installed in thunderbird nor in Ubuntu by
default you have added it at one point and kept profile left over.
Please post the output of the following:

apt-cache policy lightning-extension libstdc++6 libstdc++5
thunderbird-2.0 thunderbird-3.0

 did you download thunderbird-3.0 from mozilla site. also did you
install lightning from mozilla site?
