In Kubuntu Karmic Beta, UXA is enabled by default, right? (No xorg.conf, I am slightly confused).
But there are these four lines in /var/log/Xorg.0.log:

(II) UXA(0): Driver registered support for the following operations:
(II) solid
(II) copy
(II) composite (RENDER acceleration)

Bug changed a bit since my comment #10 on the same hardware (ThinkPad T61 with Intel 965GM Chipset). In Kubuntu Karmic Beta, I can see a mouse pointer on a black screen after logging out. This is new. The mouse pointer changes to an input cursor on some areas on the screen. Could be that these are the areas for username and password.
Also new: It is possible to restart the XServer with Alt+Print+K. After that everything is ok.
Third new thing: Switching user works without problems now.
