Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eclipse

Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10

eclipse:
  Installed: 3.5.1-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 3.5.1-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 3.5.1-0ubuntu2 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I expected eclipse to open with an empty workspace or open and existing
workspace.

After starting eclipse and choosing a workspace. Splash screen
disappears and eclipse displays an empty dialog box. Killing the
process is required to exit. Eclipse runs fine if run as sudo.
