Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve
Ubuntu.

The problem you're seeing is that grub2 was installed to your boot
block, but the grub-pc package has now been removed in favor of the grub
package, so new kernels don't get added to your grub2 config.  Did you
install the startupmanager package?  This seems to be a common cause of
this problem for karmic users.

I'm provisionally marking this bug as a duplicate of bug #429943, since
that's the likely cause of the problem.  If you didn't install the
startupmanager package, please let us know that this is incorrect.

As bug #429943 is now resolved, you should be able to restore your boot
configuration by reinstalling the grub-pc package.
