With choice of ffmpeg as encoder and mpeg4 this is the error message:

Usually that means that input file is truncated and/or corrupted.
After installation of mencoder and changing my choice to mpeg2, new
error message:

Cannot open demuxer.
I wrote .avi at the end of the name of the file, and tried other
extensions, but no way.
