Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: picard
Every time I enter a bracket in the Picard scripting options (which will happen in nearly 99.99% of all cases), Picard freezes instantly. This bug is long known and fixed by the Picard developers, but only scheduled for the next major version 0.12. Since it is unlikely that Picard 0.12 is going to be released before the karmic release, it would be nice to backport the fix in version 0.11 for karmic. The fix only consists of two code changes in one single file, so it should safely be adoptable.
The scripting functionality in Picard is one of its most important features, if you want to customize the way your music should be tagged. In the current state, this functionality is completely broken and unuseable.
Link to the bug ticket in the Picard bug tracking system: http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/ticket/5090
Link to the commit that fixed the bug upstream: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~musicbrainz-developers/picard/trunk/revision/920#picard/ui/options/scripting.py
I tried the fix myself by changing the mentioned lines and scripting is
working again.
