This bug was fixed in the package tovid - 0.31-0ubuntu5

tovid (0.31-0ubuntu5) karmic; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/07_todisc_progress_meter_fix.patch:
    - transcode has changed the command-line switch from --print_status to
      --progress_meter and thus doesn't get started from todisc (LP: #454549).
