Public bug reported:

upgrading from xubuntu jaunty to karmic by replacing all instances of
jaunty in sources.list with karmic.  then aptitude update.  aptitude
full-upgrade.

on running initramfs step there was an error mentioning something about
my sil24... pv s that were mounted as a lv on root.

something about linear devices only...
