Same for me. I have a dell inspiron 6400 with HDA Intel audio card.
When I open alsamixer and I lower my volume to 21%, the "master" volume is muted (=0).
If I lower my volume less than 21%, the "pcm" volume is lowered.

In Jaunty, the "pcm" volume isn't lowered when I lower the general
volume.

It is a good idea to lower the "pcm" volume but before the "master"
volume is muted.

Any solution ?
