Dear Mark,

In the meanwhile I removed AWN and reinstalled it through the
synaptic...after that I dont encounter the same problem...

How do you run Awn? Via the applications menu?

Please open up a terminal and run avant-window-navigator. When Awn
closes on its own, paste the console output to a text file and attach it
to this bug.

1) I ve just installed 8.10, on an ACER Aspire 9700
2) AWN 0.3.1 bzr489.3
3) I open the AWN and expected to stay open.
4) Instead after 5 minutes the application closes on its own.
