This problem was fixed in clamav 0.95.1+dfsg-1ubuntu1.1. As of now the
latest and recommended clamav version for Intrepid is 0.95.2+dfsg-
4ubuntu1.1~intrepid1 from -backports.

As the fix is exactly the same what you did, you could just leave it at
that and use your current version of ClamAV but as that version is
probably outdated, it is generally recommended to update clamav to the
latest version available. You can do that by enabling the -backports
repository and updating the clamav packages.
