Assuming the error you are getting is something along the lines of
"Error: No such device" followed by the UUID, I can confirm this issue.
I can only boot my fresh Karmic RC install by editing the grub command
list and removing the "search" line.

Note that in my case, this is a laptop with a single PATA drive, Karmic
is the only OS installed, and the drive was partitioned by the erase and
use entire disk method of the installer.
