Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: octave-general

This bug can be found on Karmic (first release to include octave3.2 in
the repositories) (amd64).

octave-general 1.0.7-2 and apparently other octave-* modules depend on
octave3.0 for installation. Octave 3.2 is present on the system and was
installed through the repositories, but doesn't satisfy the
dependencies, although it is feature-compatible.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a terminal.
2. Run "sudo apt-get install octave3.2".
3. Run "sudo apt-get install octave-general".

Package should then be installed as all features required are provided
by octave3.2, but APT tries to install octave3.0 instead to satisfy
dependencies. Bug can be reproduced every time. Bug can also be
reproduced with other octave-* packages.
