This has been a bad experience for me too, after upgrading from 9.04 to
9.10 I lost sound- the hardware just vanished, so I decided to do a
fresh install from CD. This has left me with a 50 second wait whilst the
hard disks are thrashed and then with a grub menu that has left out
Fedora. I have 3 IDE drives and a total of 7 os instalations. I can just
about see what the idea behind this all is, but it just does not work in
a user friendly way. Boot time is now so slow I am wishing I had never
tried 9.10.
