I compile maxima source from Ubuntu repository with this option:

./configure --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr --enable-sbc

after running this commands (from
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Maxima )

sudo apt-get build-dep maxima
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gcl

and now it works.
