Hello - I am the guilty party, being the author :)
The error is being fixed in the dev code (svn). If you want to live dangerously (not really that bad) then visit the project website on https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/fontypython/ (ignore the stupid error about certificates) and then follow the svn instruction for 'trunk'.
